Here is a thought experiment for the next time you are people watching on the beach.  Bicycles may look different, but notice how each one fits the rider in about the same way. Notice how each rider’s legs are in the same position when he or she pedals.  Their knees are pointing straight ahead, not toward the bike or away from it. Most of the time, this has less to do with the bike itself than with how it is adjusted to fit the rider.  For example, it is possible for a man to ride a women’s beach cruiser comfortably if it is adjusted to fit him. Getting your strand cruiser to fit correctly is the key.

The Five Points of Contact
Contrary to popular belief, your height is not the most important consideration when fitting a bike to your body.  Two people of the same height might have very different body proportions.  Instead, think about the five parts of your body that touch the bike.  The five points of contact are your right hand, left hand, hips and pelvic area, right foot, and left foot.  Therefore, most adjustments are made to the handlebars, seat, and pedals, not the bike frame.  Likewise, your arm length and leg length are more important than your total height.

What to Adjust
To make the pedals fit, you should adjust the cleats inward or outward.  You know they fit when you can ride with your knees directly over your feet.  The seat is the right height if, when you sit on it, your foot reaches a pedal in the downward position, when your leg is straight.  Likewise, if you have to move your hips from side to side when you pedal, the seat is too high.
Have a bike expert at a bike store check how well your bike fits you and the enjoy the ride!
